I also have the Reflexxion cowl hood. I saw Gene's hood at a SoCAPS club meeting and I had to get one. It fit better than my stock hood! Here is a picture of it.
The stock hood insulation does mount under the Reflexxion hood. So if you have the insulation, the hood doesn't do much venting. I am in the process of cutting out a section of insulation above the turbo so that some of that heat will vent out. If you don't reinstall the insulation, it should help with the under hood temps a bit and keep your windshield defrosted in the Winter.
03250stroke,
Thank for the compliment. It gets me from point A to point B.
Why would you want it if it does not vent the heat...is it looks only
Well....YEAH! Exactly! It was for looks for the most part, but my factory hood was not stamped straight, stock hood was skewed off to one side from the factory and could not be aligned. I sure did not trust the dealer to repaint a replacement stock hood under warranty. Plus I would have the same boring stock hood that I wanted to replace anyway after seeing Gene's. So I ordered the cowl hood and went to a quality body shop to have it painted.
As I said before, I am in the process of trimming the insulation and adding perfed metal under the hood in the cowl area so that I can keep the insulation and have it vent. So right now, it doesn't vent, but neither does the stock hood. At least this hood looks a lot better. With the custom badges on my truck and the black wheels, people are always asking if it is a new model from Ford.
