I have my speed voume set at 4, and I can really hear the change in volume when I come from a dead stop at the lights before the on ramp to the high way as compared to high way speeds. When I first got the truck I had it at 7, and it was so dang loud at highway speed I had to turn down the voume, which defeated the purpose of the feature. Mine works very well.
so of you are getting bent out shape for not having the audiophile system, think how i feel buying the lariat pk. and not even getting a 6cd changer what were they thinking? but as far as the speed vol. i can't tell any change, but i would like to know if the audiophile could be upgraded, i know in the focus's trying to tie in the sub is a pain if even posssible, i'm hoping that the wire's are all there ready for the plug in (but not holding my breath) also
nevermind my earlier post about the speed volume, Dunk is right about the faster you drive the louder you music goes up. the higher the number the louder it the voulume goes up. i had mined set at 7 and heard a pretty big change so i changed it to 5 and it seems ok now.
Ok, now I get it. The Autiophile system is an add on option to the 6 disc changer, not a whole separate different system. I'm going to have to screw with the Speed Volume thing again, but I swear I couldn't hear it working before..

The volume comes up so smoothly that it is hard to tell if it's working. If you can hear the music or whatever about the same when your going 60 as when your stopped, it's probably working.
Well, I do have one, and if you have one, there is no mistaking it, you know it. Let's put it this way. I have spent a lot of money over the years making upgrades to my listening, but this system is by far the nicest stereo I have had the pleasure of owning, and it is a factory stereo.
I have spent money on Alpines and speaker ugrades etc. but this system is wonderfully balanced and ready to go with lots of power. I don't know if the standard 6 disc changer has these settings, but if you push the menu button , one of the settings on the speakers is rear seats, all seats, and drivers seat.
If you select the drivers seat setting, it is like the band sets up all around the drivers seat, noticable difference, and quite a nice feature. I would definetely spend the money again, if I were ordering it as an option.
so are there also more speakers in the upgrade or do they use the same. can you tell us where to look for the subwoofer wire, is the pulg large enough to feel under the carpet?
The speed volume control does work, at least in mine. I have a 2004 SCRew Lariat and it does have a 6 disc in dash changer from the factory, but no audiophile system. Also you can adjust the Bass, Treble and the Balance and Fade throught the Menu. The audiophile system is just better speaker (a higher wattage rating), a subwoofer and an amp. You can add all of this onto the existing unit found in any F150. You probably will spend more money than if you purchased the audiophile system. A while ago I asked my dealer if it can be purchased and installed and I beleive I was told it could be done, but would be expensive.

Aloha,
Thanks, jgraff, for the idea. I had the system set up for all seats and loved it. Just tried the "drivers seat" option for the first time and WOW!!! Best stereo upgrade for the money you can buy, period.
It is possible. When I bought mine I unfortunately did not get the Audiophile system and kick myself for not getting it. The rear DVD entertainment system was not available when I bought my truck, but now you can definately get the Audiophile w/ rear seat ent sys. The only thing is if you get the ent sys, you can't get the factory sunroof.
