Firs time painter

im looking for information on my first paint job. im 17 yrs old and about 80% done the body work on my truck and am looking to get it painted. being 17 i dont really have the 2k to lay down on a professional paint job. i was wondering what the best way to completely repaint my truck in red would be. im hoping to get a glossy finish out of it. one other thing is that i have a friend who is helping me out with the body work and he said we would repaint my truck for around $150 using dupont paint at $30 a gallon, does that sound right?

Do you already have a compressor and gun? I would say that any paint will give good results, but the better the prep work and paint, the better the results. I used rustoleum spray cans for good results, but not great. If you want great, or even factory quality, you will pay more. If you want respectable, you can do it for cheap. The paint you chose should be fine, but use the same manufacturer's primer and clear. If you mix, then problems can pop up.
