axle ratios
i have a 78 f150 460 with a 9in. i recently removed the gears to inspect and service the diff. i counted and divided the teeth on the ring and pinion and came up with a 2.59 ratio!!! i never heard of this ratio, has anyone else? i would like to change to a 3.25 but the truck will still melt the tires...

your problably right, its hard counting pinion teeth when the gear is set up.. i still would like a 3.50 or even a 4.11 in town. that would make a big difference.i just have the truck for a work vehicle but i like to light the tires every once in a while.
