Hi everyone,
Just posted pics of my '79 F-150 4X4. This truck is a custom trim level and yet has tilt, cruise, air, 400 V-8, Auto trans. Is this rare? It is a longbed 4X4 and I plan to tear it apart for a rebuild this winter. Take a look and let me know what you think. https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...&albumid=12342
Welcome to the forum. Is it rare? No, It has alot of option's but not where it is a rare truck. You could put anything you wanted on a custom truck, take off what you did'nt want on an XLT truck, meaning if you had an XLT and did'nt want A/C you could order it without. It might be rare if there is a joe blow looking for that specific truck, but these body style's are a dime a dozen.
The truck itself has alot of potential, good luck with your buid

Nice solid looking truck you have there, 67724, and welcome. Be sure to lay out a budget for your rebuild , you can put as little as 2k in these old trucks and have a great ride. Some people have made show quality trucks out of their's and probaly have 20 - 35 k in them. Get a rebuild plan and stick to it, it is easy to go in over your head with rebuild/restores. These old trucks are a fun hobby, just not good investments jmo and enjoy your truck !
It looks like a good project truck. Check out my gallery of my 78 F-150 4x4 custom the bottom gallery is the most up to date pics but they arent the greatest
Thanks for all your comments,I will most likely put on another bed and scrap the old one (too rusty, floor gone) replace the full time t-case with a part time one I have and fix all the brakes and stuff, rebuild engine paint it and use as a daily driver. I plan to go back with the original blue. Also the seat cover is still in good shape, AC works (semi-cold), need to fix the cruise. Could the dash pot for the cruise be bad? where to get a new one?
Outstanding. I recently got a 79 150 4x4 for a project truck same body as yours. However its got the 4-speed manual and the 205 t-case. A real road warrier. The chicks hate it but I love it. My bed was also pretty rusty but i got a shell liner for cheap so I won't fall through. I gotta do some work on my brakes too but my engine is ready to kill. Now I just gotta get it inspected and painted one color(brown) and head for the trails!
Just purchase a complete '78 bronco for parts. It has a rebuilt 400 and the 205 transfer case that will give me part time 4WD so my '79 will be road ready soon. As for the bed, I am thinking of patching it up with weld in panels. And maybe drive it this winter while I am working on my other project '70 F-100 longbed 2WD

Reason: spelling
I have a few other projects, 66 fairlane GTA, 70 F-100 longbed, 96 Harley FLST, so With this truck if it ain't broke I am not fixing it (transfer case being the only exception). But I don't see me quitting anytime soon. Plus who knows what kind of finds lie down the road...
