Jonsered chain saws?

Anyone have one and how do you like it? Currently running a Stihl But not many dealers to repair in my area. Most shops are selling Jonsered or Husqvarna?

My dad used to use Jonsered a LONG time ago. He said they were crap compared to Stihl. Stihl is my number one choice. Number 2 would be Husqvarna. But Stihl is way better IMHO.

Personally I like the new John Deere chainsaws, theyve been good so far. but then again, my opinion may be a little biased seeing as I work for them

Look at some of the Jonsered saws and look at some of the Husqvarnas. Several in the lineup are pretty much the same saw. Husky has a broader line, but some of the saws are the same. Both companies are owned by AB Electrolux and alot of them are built in the same factory.

Off topic, I just bought a Husqvarna 350.

The 350 model looks like the one I need. How does it do?

I just fired up my new Husqy 372xp this morning. All the saw I'll ever need. I bought it with a 20" bar, and for about another $100, I can have a 32" bar on it. Jonsered is considered a good saw, but whether it's them, Stihl or Husqy (top 3 pro brands, I believe), you want to buy in the pro lines if you do any amount of cutting each year. I cut 4-6 cords of wood every year, and am tired of spending as much time fixing saws as using them, which is why I went with the Husqy. Local available parts/service should be a deciding factor also.

Good Saw :

I owned a Jonsered saw for years with a 32" bar but I could not tell you noe what model it was . We cut all the birch fire wood for camps with it and about 12 or 14 face cord of maple each year for the house s well with no serious trouble .

I now have a 550 Husky which is a good saw as well . As someone already mentioned they are both owned by Electrolux as well as all the rest of the remaining manufactures but Poulan and Homelite if Homelite are still even on the market . Someone mentioned that Deere is making one as well now and Makita started a chainsaw line as well a couple of years ago but if they are not any better than their power tools in the last 5 years they do not have to worry about seeing any of my cash .

What I did like about the Jonsered , pronounced ( Yonsered ) , was the anti vibration system seemed better than my Husky or a previous Sthil I sold and they are a quieter saw as well . It's hard to go wrong with any of the big 3
and all the loggers around my geographic location are using Sthil .

I have to agree with Jason, I have had the same saw for a year or two now and I have absolutely no complaints. It is a world apart from either my Homelite (first) or McColloch (second).

So far I really like it. I'm in Florida and don't cut a whole lot of wood, but it's nice to have something with good power. The 350 seemed perfect for me. Not that I would mind having a 372XP to go along with it

I bought it for anticipated storm damage and we got it. May be getting it again within 12 hours, but that's another story I got the job of cleaning up a fallen oak on one of our customers properties. He could not get his regular tree guy to return his calls, so he asked me if I could do it. Fallen trees are pretty much the norm for us and I went ahead an told him I could do it. I got there and saw this massive thing down and wondered what I had gotten myself into. No problems at all With the 18" bar and well selected cuts, I made it through the 30" tree without much effort. When we went to pick up the last of the cut pieces, the gentleman was home, he said "wow, that was a lot bigger than I thought, you must have a saw with about, what, a 32" bar?" Not something I would want to do everyday, but it worked, even with the factory supplied chain. Although that is where I would have really liked to have the 372

if you aren't often cutting down really big trees i would recommend the husky 346xp with a 16" bar. It's a lot lighter then a 372xp and just about as fast. You should be able to cut down a tree with atleast a 40" diameter trunk with a 16" bar. you can get a 20" for it too, but it'll slow it down a bit, and i like the balance of the shorter bar.

i do fire mitigation in colorado, and i find i am more productive with the little husky then with my big stihl, carrying around that big heavy saw makes my arms tired.

What kind of cutting would you be doing?

check out npeco.com, they have good prices on the huskys

I like the Huskys best for triming back bales of wood at work. They are great for limbing trees.I liked the Jonsered for cutting saw logs.I'd much rather carry a Husky around all day vs. the other brands.

Jonsered is an excellent saw. Unless you are a professional logger, you will never know the difference. I know professional loggers who Use Stihl, Jonserad, and Husky. Each swears by the brand they like. I personally have Stihls. I know one guy, (the smart one) who useal all 3. He price wars between our 3 local dealers.

I have a Jonserad 2145 with a 16" bar, I junk about 15 to 20 cord a year. I have never had a problem with my saw, I have had it for 6 years now. I like it because it is light and doesn't tear the shoulders out of you. I can use my saw for a full day and not be sore in the morning.
The whole thing about a saw, no matter which one you buy, after you are done for the day you take it apart and clean it every time. Sharpen the chain, oil the bar (or not) and you will not have any problem with what ever saw you buy.
Just a little note: if you oil the bar do it all the time, if you don't oil the bar then never do. I don't oil my bar and I have the original bar on my saw.
