Can the TFI be bad even tho there is spark to the plugs and can the TFI be removed without pulling the distributor I was shown a tool at my local auto supply store if I understood right they said it could be done.
My main problem is a external pump staying on and not going off after two seconds changed fuel relay also not starting but engine cranks
Thought I read that signals from the TFI sends instructions to varius moduals and one of them is the fuel relay to cycle it when ignition happens.
I've been in the same predictament several times. The first thing you must find out is do you have enough fuel pressure. The on-rail fuel pump staying on could indicate that the in-tank fuel pump is not working. This would be the first step I'd look at. the fuel relays are located in two places (actually there is only one true fuel relay but the EEC relay acts to control it once you release the key from the start position). If you have spark, I almost guarantee it's not the TFI module. Yes, they do come apart from the distributor by 2 small screws that have either a phillips end on a hex head. simply back out the two screws and gently pull down on the TFI. When putting a new one one, make sure the connections are clean and use some dielectric compund while being careful not to bend the new electrical tabs on the new TFI. Let me know how you make out.

Reason: typos
Thanks for the info LisaGoud Im also thinking now it could be a lack of pressure because I have gotten the van to run sometimes and everything seems normal but if I shut the van off for a length of time Im back to square one seems like a bleed down of fuel pressure when it sits.
The external high pressure pump is new I guess I will get under the van and disconnect some fuel lines from tanks and see if fuel pumps out with key on.
Makes sense if high pressure pump keeps humming trying to pull fuel that is not there but two tank pumps gone same time that is what I have to find out.
