I have a 2001 f250 super duty with a v-10. I have started noticing condensation dripping when I shut down the engine. I dont have the air cond. on at the time. Just the heater or defrost. With the engine running and the heater off the a/c pump cycles on and off. Any ideas where to start chasing this down ?
as 94van said, and your owners manual will tell you, the A/C compressor runs with the switch in any position other than floor-only, vent or off.
Also, cycling of the compressor is normal under many conditions, such as moderate or cool outside temperature, low blower speed, etc. It must cycle off to melt any ice from the cooling coil. Otherwise ice will block all the airflowfrom the vents and it seems as though the system is not working. (happened to me once- was a doh! moment when I shut off the motor and got out- seemed like a gallon of water poured out under the truck as the ice melted!)

So.....are you saying this happens because a/c is low on refrigerant? I have an 01 edge and my a/c kicks on,on every option except vent. I understand that it will for defrost, but this has never happened since I bought the truck 4 years ago and I hardly use the a/c here in Michigan. It also makes a constant ticking sound whenever heat,vent,a/c is engaged (just started). Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave
