I have a problem that I do not know what is causing it.
My '93 Explorer wobbles between 10 and 15 mph. I have checked a 4 wheels for run out by lifting the vehicle and spinning the tires with a stationary object next to them to see how much side-to-side movement is there. All 4 tires seemed ok so I place and straight line inside the inner fender to check for the presence of an oblong (?) diameter tire, still nothing.
You can't always see a bad tire. Sometimes you just have to swap them with known good tires and try it.
If you can tell whether it's the front or the rear you could swap the tires end to end and see if the wobble goes with them.
That's one of my problems, I don't know which tire is causing the wobble. I haven't yanked the spare out since I purchased the vehicle so I quess that I can use it as my starting point. Just hope that it is not bad as well.
Haven't gotten to the tire swap yet (plan to do it this weekend) but I was wondering if another problem may be causing this wobble?
In the past 2 days I have noticed a strange noise while traveling through some rough spots in pavement, could a lose wheel bearing also cause a wobble but not show up in the test that I posted in my original post?
