Ok,,LET ME START OFF BY SAYING IM THINKING OF PUTTING A NEW CLUTCH IN,161100 ON THE ODOMETER AND ORIGINAL CLUTCH,PEDAL COMES ALMOST ALL THE WAY OUT BEFORE IT STARTS TO REALLY ENGAGE,,WHAT SHOULD I GO WITH??? I PULL A 7800 LBS CAMPER EVERY OTHER WEEKEND THROUGHOUT SPRING AND SUMMER AND THE WINTER I HAUL A GOOD BIT OF WOOD AND PULL MY TRACTOR AROUND ALOT. OK QUESTION NUMBER 2 IM GETTING READY TO INSTALL NEW SHOCKS AND STABILIZER ALSO AND CURIOUS AS TO WHAT BRAND EVERYONE IS GOING WITH NOW DAYS,,AS OF RIGHT NOW I AM RUNNING RANCHO 5000 SERIES BUT HAVE BEEN THINKING OF GOING TO DAUL SHOCK AND DAUL STABILIZER SINCE I RUN SUCH BIG TIRES,38X12.50X16.5,,SO ANY INFO ON THOSE 2 THINGS WOULD BE A GREAT HELP IN MAKING MY DECISION.. DAVE S. I HAVE TO TELL YA I DROVE A 2001 F-250 LAST NIGHT WITH THE POWER STROKE IN IT AND A SIX SPEED MANUAL AND MY GOD YOU TALK ABOUT GETTING ON UP THE ROAD,,I WAS HITTING 72 MPH IN 3RD AND STILL HAD 3 MORE GEARS TO GO,,THE TORQUE WAS VERY DEMANDING AND IMPRESIVE,,THEY TRIED TO GET ME TO TRADE MY OLD GIRL IN ON IT BUT I JUST COULDNT BRING MYSELF TO PART WITH HER,,2001 F-250 QUAD CAB SHORT BED 4X4,FULLY LOADED 31,000 MILES,6 SPEED,$24,000 , THEY OFFERED ME 10,500 FOR MINE AND I STILL WALKED AWAY!!!!! IT HAD ALOT MORE TORQUE AND SPEED THEN MINE BUT IT DIDNT RIDE AS NICE OR LOOK AS NICE.
I put in a LUK clutch when I did my motor. I just got the stock replacement clutch because the motor already set me back enough dollars. Works well for what I do with mine. Haul... in the 8000 pound range, tow ....in the 14000 pound range.
I have Rancho rear shocks and Monroe on the frront, but it is about time to replace both ends. They are single units on both ends. I could probably use dual shocks on both ends, after all the spring work I did to mine it does ride like a road wagon.
As far as a new truck with a power stroke....not me yet. I just passed up a 96 F350 with a blown motor for 1400 dollars. I should have got it for the 5 speed and Dana 60 front axle though. My 7.3 turbo has all I want as far as power and torque, but I need more gear with fuel going for 2.099 down here now. If you want the power and torque just get a turbo on your 7.3, lots cheaper than a new truck, you already know what is wrong with the one you have, and the new trucks are not as tough as what you have now.
