96 F150 running rough

96 F150 running rough

My 96 F150 runs rough, like it has run out of gas, when I am using the rear fuel tank. Truck runs fine with front fuel tank. Any suggestions on what could be the problem? Thanks!

change the sock on the fuel pump and put in a new fuel filter should clear up the problem.

What exactly is the sock you suggest replacing? The fuel filter only has about 5000 miles on it. Thanks.

fuel pump sounds like its on its last leg.

the sock is a prefilter on the end of the fuel pump, it it gets clogged up it makes it hard for the pump to pump the fuel.
