Getting in gear after start up??

It may be me since I just got my truck last night and I dont know how to use it yet but for some reason after I start the truck up (even warm) I cant get it in gear for a few minutes, and yes I do have my foot on the brake. Is there some safety device that is doing this or is something wrong?

Congrats on the new ride Heckler !
give us pics and pics !!!!

Every once in a while if I have the wheel turned wrong when I STOP the truck it will lock the wheel in such a position I can't turn the key unless I rock the steering wheel, (but that's my doofus showing more than anything )
but can't say I've had a problem putting it in gear... unless I don't pull on the shift lever back toward me enough to release...
maybe not pushing in the brake pedal enough ????

Im stomping on the pedal, this has me a bit worried. I thought I was going to be stuck at work! It seems after a few minutes it works...

I just put pics in my gallery.

Thanks, I got the truck new and had the dealer put the lift and wheels on. I wanted to keep the warranty intact so I had them do it. I was able to talk them into giving me everything to me at their cost. I priced everything out seperate and if I would have done it myself I would have saved about $250, but thats mostly labor. Worth it to me. I still have full warranty on the suspension and driveline.

The wheels are 20"x10" centerlines with 35"x12.5"x20" Toyo tires. I wasnt to sure about the 20" rims but I think they look pretty good and I was impressed with the Toyo tires, they are not to noisy, time will tell on wear.

And I also love black, I sold my Jeep Cherokee to buy this and it was black. But that would fit in my carport and it was cherry clean, I took care of it, no way this thing is going to fit so I chose a color that woud maintain easier.

You know the saying... Bigger is better!

Back to the original subject, does anyone else have an idea what could be causing my truck not to go into gear?

Nice Rig Heckler...

I'd swing it back to Ford for a peek.. Maybe something they did when doing your mods.. 'Possibly' a problem with the column solenoid/shift tube assy.. Hard to say from here.. Would have to take a look, and start eliminating the possibilities.. Doubtful anything with the trans, but could easily be checked.. If you are stuck, can't pull it outta gear with the shifter, you 'could' set the parking brake TIGHT, engine OFF, BLOCK the wheels and 'pop' the shifter cable of the ball/lever at the trans.. It should easily 'click' into any gear..

What part of the Bay Area are you in?? I'm in the North Bay...
