according to my book, different FE engines had different sizes - they run from 9.35 to 9.77, with the most common 9.59. 1958 solid lifter blocks had 10.70 inch push rods, but those would be very rare. They also come 0.060 under and oversize.

Thanks for the info. I have two books, "Ford Big Block Engines", by Steve Christ and a Haynes Manual that came with the truck. Both books do not mention any pushrod lengths. Can you tell me what reference you are using?
