I'd like to change the grill/headlights on my 93 e350 to the newer aerodynamic type on the passenger vans. Is this a simple swap? It looks like just the grille and headlights when I look at online pictures, but body part sources list different hoods and fenders on the 97's and up. Any input?
Maybee I should clarify, I want to change the grille assembly also from my set up (cargo van) to the "aerodynamic" one found on the passenger vans. It still looks simple, I just wanted to double check since the body parts place listed different fenders and hood for the newer ones. Will the 97 and up aerodynamic grille and headlights bolt right in or should I expect to have to change other components?
Along these same lines, does anyone know how difficult it would be to use a brush guard from the F-series and retrofit to an E350? Would the mounting areas be similar or is the van just totally different? Any help would be appreciated. Also, to PB4UGO, (I always do) you may want to consider keeping your existing set-up due to the ability to retrofit a much better headlight technology than anything in the 9003 series. I have always been a fan of the European Headlights and H-4 bulbs. These are fantastic for night driving and you can go up to a 90/110 watt bulb. The cutoff is such that you won't offend drivers in front of you and your ability to aim is much more precise. I also am considering using a plexiglass cove over the bezel itself with very small velcro tabs to protect the glass lenses--this would also give the front a more "aero" look. I also went with a stainless billet grill and love the sleek look I ended up with.
You can get brush guards for the E-series vans, ask at the local sheriffs office or the local park rangers office. They can tell you where they got theirs, also some truck cutomizing shops can get them.
