Parking brake

Ok, the parking brake worked fine yesterday now the cable is hanging from under the frame beneath the drivers door. The brake light comes on intermittently but it can be pushed. Brakes are currently good, brake light bothers me. Should I ignore it or yank it?
Thanks

Parking brake

sounds like our trucks are similarly beaten. My parking break cable isn't really hooked to the pedal anymore. Just popped off as far as I've been able to tell. It is all tight underneath, but it isn't pushing the brake enough to stop the truck from rolling. I decided not to mess with it so I have a couple of logs and a couple of bricks that I will keep inside to "install" whenever I need a parking break.

Parking brake

Sounds like a good idea, I have never had one work before, well its been so long I don't use it anyways I just leave the vehicle in gear to keep it from rolling. (Just for laughs) I put the car up on ramps and blocked the back wheels and left it in gear, my husband jumped in to start it, we have a clutch safety, when he let out the clutch..... I asked him why he didn't check to make sure it was out of gear and he said "thats what the parking brake is for". He got mad I laughed so hard. By the way he is not clueless, he did put up a chain link kennel for me in one day pretty much by himself, which is more than I could have done with it.:* Back to the subject it bothers me that it hangs there like it does, with all the other problems I worry that it is not disengaging all the way. I don't really want to pull the rear brakes apart to find out. Later maybe but not right now.
