Idio used to talk about these a lot. In terms of retreads I hear very good things about Hitech. That being said I'd never even consider running retreads on my truck. I've seen too many peel apart and blow out on the highway. Here Brem, check this out: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=232846
Btw, be careful not to confuse hi-tech retreads with hi-tech retards. Both spelled similar and sound similar but one works for Bill Gates and the other will put you in a ditch.

Yeah, I've been thinking the peel apart, but I don't see many that blow out off of the highway. I guess I'll have to call them up for some $$$
the other problem is they use all kinds of tires for them, so you my get some cheap 2 ply sidewalls on some off-brand that has a good mud tread put on. and i have heard that you can get some tires that have curb checked sidewalls on them. just food for thought. i was thinking about getting them too, but desided against it.
About retreads and them coming apart, youknow all those pieces of semi's tires you on the road every so often? abou 75% of those come from worn retreads. Food for thought, but then again money talks and mud tires can get pricey.
From working on class 7/8 trucks I can tell you retreads come rated by how many times it has been done and the quality of the tire body. Many independent truckers buy the cheapest retread that is only rated for inner city use and run it on the interstate.
Where it explodes because it was not used for the intended application, plus, they do not check their tire pressure every stop like they are suppose to.
Yeah that happened to my dad (didn't check the tires, plus they were worn right out) when he was hauling grain in his 3-ton, ended up wrecking all 4 rear tires, but rebocardo is right, if the retread is used for what its supposed to be used for then it will be a good tires, but as soon as you missuse the tire its life is drasticly reduced.

that is the way I feel.. Plus, I was going to buy retreads, and I wasn't intending to flog them on the interstate for hours at a time building up heat
