I've got a 90 150 with a 300, it was running rough when it got warm for a long time. Then it started to die when it got warm and got a real bad gas smell. I took the ignition modual off and it tested fine, then while trying to get it home one night i noticed it tossed a bunch of really really hot sparks out. So we then thought it was the converter, so we removed its inerds and made it gut less and now the truck will idle for a couple min then cuts out and almost dies then pucks back up and so on. still does it if i rev it up too. Any help would be great.

Sounds like the fuel pressure reg is bad. Causes it to run rich(gas smell), exhaust discharge will probably be really hot(too hot to hold your hand in front of for more than a couple seconds), cat will probably glow and it will run like crap.
