After all this.....and just driving it out during lunch I am now realizing that when jsut going down the road staying at a constant speed you can hear it idle up and down, the rpm's stay put but I can hear something like the idel sound reving up and down - now what is this about???????
Some of this may be the Variable Geometry Turbo...
It will adjust depending on engine load; engine load and RPM do not always have a direct correlation. When the computer senses more load, it can up the fuel and open the vanes of the turbocharger to maintain speed without changing RPM's the slightest; this may be what you are hearing.
I plugged in my Predator and went to Live data and watched the digital rpm jump up and down 50 RPM but didn't see any fluctuation of the tach on the dash. I guess if I was listening for it, I could hear it. It runs great the rest of the time.
MNFORDCHICK, does it run fine the rest of the time? If so, I wouldn't worry. Check your oil level. It shouldn't be up to or over the "Max" mark. Overfull oil will cause idle problems. Here is a bulletin from FORD:
Oil Level Check Tip:
When checking the oil level on the 6.0, the vehicle must be on a level surface and the dipstick must be fully seated into the tube to ensure an accuarte reading. Do not add oil if the level is above the "MIN" line on the dipstick. Broadcast Message 1512, 1574
Yeah my truck seems to run fine except at occasion when I am stopped at a signal or stop sign it will idle really low and start to shake and then do a jerk and idle back up to about 750 rpm's - is that normal??? I am just so frustrated..... I paid a lot of money and bought a new truck to not have problems....I guess I learned my lesson....

If it does it when in gear, but does not when in neutral, check your transmission fluid level.

Could also be a clog in the fuel filter system because when coming off of a high pressure high speed situation, it has trouble staying pressurized without enough rpm's. Seem it happen in gassers... Check your HFCM, there are some that have a gel packed in them from the factory and need to be cleaned out. Also, do you run Power Service? You could possibly just need some fuel conditioning..
