86 bronco ii wiring harness
I have a 1986 bronco ii xlt 2.9 l v6 4wd that I had the engine blow up. Im replacing it with a 90 ranger thats identical and I am looking for a "new" wiring harness to replace the one the previous owner "customized" Do you know where I could find a wiring harness? i'm thinking my best bet is a pick n pull. Also, could you tell me what wiring harness' are identical? Thanks!

Just off the cuff I would think 1986 to 1988, preferably Bronco II. Pre 1986 had a different engine and soon after 1988, possibly in 1989, the harness changed as it passes through the firewall. Basically a plug was added at the firewall to illuminate the need to unplug everything from inside the dash and pull it through the firewall like I had to do with my 1988. So post 1988 got more convenient but would add a lot of trouble for your project. A Ranger's harness would be longer as it runs to the fuel pumps and tail lights which is why I would suggest trying to find one from another Bronco II. If though you find there are enough connectors in the engine bay such that you don't need to replace anything outside the engine bay then I would think a 2.9 Ranger would make a fine donor as well. Junk yard is the best and only option I'm aware of. Label well as you go. I like to number each side of the connectors with tape and a sharpie as I'm unplugging them, and lots of pictures are helpful too.
