I've had my 04 for about 3 months now and have 8500 miles on it. At about 7000 miles I noticed that the idle sometimes gets very quiet, then returns to normal. It also will drop a hundred rpms or surge a little. Talked to the dealer today, he said that a new flash would probably take care of it. Any thoughts?
BTW, I'm getting 14.5-15.5 mpg city (including beltline) and 17.5 hwy.
I'll try it Tim. How about the latest flashes-any feedback as to performance, economy, etc? I love this truck and have had zero problems, with all the talk in the past year about problems with flashes, I'm a little nervous about anyone touching it.
I had my 2004 reflashed at just 900 miles . This was done to improve my surging problem . The flash did not fix the surging problem . And I did not notice much of a differance in my mileage after the flash . The truck did seem to have a little better throttle response after the flash . They replace the EBP sensor to fix the surging problem . Truck has been great since the changes .
Yeah, it's probably EBP. My second one just broke again and I too have the "quiet idle" and mild surging again. Dealer said Ford is redesigning the sensor. It will screw up your mileage too. Pulling over and shutting off the truck off when it's warm makes the issue go away. ETA for the part was sometime in october but who knows.
