Mirrors on Ranger
I have a '97 Ranger with the exterior mirrors that have the space between the door and the edge of the mirror (I hope that makes sense), and I'm wondering if the mirrors off some of the newer Rangers will fit. I'm trying to describe the sportier-looking mirrors that I've seen on some Rangers that are similar to what you might see on the Explorer. The type that have the ability to be folded in without screwing up the adjustment. Has anybody replaced the mirrors on their Rangers??
The door panels are easy enough to get off, but I'm wondering if the area that they mount in, is the same size. I know that the interior on some of the newer trucks look the same, but I also realize that looks can be deceiving. So any help would be greatly appreciated. I know of a junkyard near my folks house that is FULL of Rangers, and I'm thinking of going on a scavenger hunt to see what I can find.

Call the junkyard and ask them. I'm pretty sure that all the mirrors from '95+ are the same fit.
Getting to the mirror is easy enough. Once you have the door panel off, there is a plastic dust "shield" up by corner where the mirror is, just peel back the dust cover and you will see the 3 nuts holding the mirror on. If the mirrors on your '95 are power then you will also have to remove the speaker in order to disconnect the mirror's harness connector. Maybe you could even bring your old mirror with you to the boneyard and eyeball the new one against it right there on the spot.
