I've tried to find the answer to this question but cant, so sorry have to ask it,
I'm getting the Predator next week. Like to know if when you flash the unit to the latest upgrade does it include all past upgrades (like a computer program update would) or do you have to do different upgrades?
Thanks.
Ohhhhhhhhhh, one more question. This is my first PSD, bought it to last me a long long time hopefully. I live in Southern California. Should I put on a stainles steel exhaust pipe? Want it to last a long time or would it be a waste of $$.
Welcome Jeff... and Boy are you in for some FUN !!!!!!!
the code on the predator web site is the latest and greatest and supercedes all previous versions....
HOWEVER - if you ever need to go back (which I don't think you should)...
those of us that have had the pleasure of playing with them since they came out in Jan have all the previous versions stored on our local pc's....
(since you can download them from the internet...)
I opted NOT to get stainless since I'm in texus and RARELY see the snow/salt/rain other areas do... but that's a personal choice...
you can almost get the stainless for as little as the aluminized now...
You might ask Motorhaven for a package price... bet they can make it worth your while to get both from them !!!!
For the exhaust, I would say that it depends upon where in So Cal you live and how much short distance driving you do. I live in Carlsbad and I'm not worried about exhaust corrosion from the salt water environment.
I've had more issues with other vehicles in the past with exhaust rot due to water moisture collecting in the exhaust system from short trips. I only commute 4 miles to work each way.
One dealer I talked to said it was ok to put the turoback system in, that he would do it and it wouldn't void anything. I live in California. Right now im in Phoenix visiting my son and called a muffler shop and he told me the opposite. So I called 5 more dealers and they all told me it could void my warranty. One told me that Ford has inspectors that go out periodically and check in at Dealers and take a look (and pictures) of vehicles that are being worked on and will void some right on the spot for aftermarket items if it pertains to what is being worked on. I have the Predator and would like an exhaust but I DONT want to void a warranty. I know its been asked, but I'm not sure what to do.
fontana eh? i work in fontana. as for the warrenty, they CAN void it (i believe) but most likely wont. as far as i know they need to prove that the modification (exhaust) caused the parts to fail (any parts that fail in the future). as for out right voiding the warrenty, i cant see someone being like that.
Not me... like I say turbo back been on for 20k miles and three or four trips to the dealer... even got compliments on the exhaust note from the svc guys...
but again. have not had any issues to speak of....
This isnt FORD, but when my Jeep was new and I started to modify it, they said that the only thing that would void my warranty was the parts I replaced...i.e. exhaust....control arms....track bar.....shocks.....all other stock parts where under warranty still....i.e. transfer case....axels.....motor....trans.....but that is a Jeep....they know that you are going to abuse it....and modify it....that is why they made the Rubicon.....not sure about FORD but it would stand to reason.....the aftermarket has done alot of research....and I think it would be hard for FORD to deny a warranty for you puttin an aftermarket exhaust on your truck....just my thoughts....I'm not a Lawyer either.....good luck with your decision. Tim
Ford or the dealer does not void your warranty, Ford will send out a tech rep on a large warranty claim, like an engine. If they determine the problem causing the claim was a result of a modification, they can deny the claim. Your warranty is still good for other things.
