Rotted body bushing mounts
Hello All, My truck is a 1990 bronco II XLT 2.9 auto. I was checking my shocks because of excess bounce when I noticed the front body mounts on both sides are totaly rotted through. I asked the ford dealer and he said these brackets were part of the frame. I was wondering if anybody knows of an aftermarket manufactuer that makes these brackets or does anybody have another solution to this problem.
Thankyou Charles

Rotted body bushing mounts
Noone makes them as far as I know unless it is a custom fabrication. Here is how I fixed mine.
I bought a bodylift kit and poly body bushing kit from James Duff.
I went and got 1/8 x 4 (maybe 3.5?) thick washers from a major hardware supply store. They were wide enough to fit just inside the mount.
Then I drilled (7/16?) holes through them and then cut one side off flat where it would interfer with the frame. Then I sandwiched the mount between two washers, put the body and liftkit bushing on, and ran an extra long grade 5 bolt through the whole thing. It worked great.
Basically, all you are doing is taking two 1/8 thick pieces of metal and sandwiching the remaining good metal between them. It beats having to custom make mounts and then drilling out all those rivets.
If the mounts are gone, you are going to need a body bushing kit and extra washers because the thin factory washers that go on the bottom of the factory rubber bushings are going to be rotted and gone.
