Hi all.
i unpluged the anoying chime behind the glove box.
was supprised at the amount of wires that went to it.
will there be any negative effects to this.(besides dead battery from lights or keys locked up)
thanks for any replys
I don't think there will be any negative effects. At least now I know where the dinger is, mine is intermitant, and fades in and out, and every time I look for the chime, it starts to fade out lol. Just get into a habit of checking for keys before you open the door and while you're getting out, slapping the headlight ****.
yes i will definitly try to get in to that habit.
Locked my keys in my truck the other day.
at least i had Valet service. tow truck was free to unlock door.
I havent noticed anything different since i unhooked it lastnight.
i was really suprised at the # of wires going to the chime.
there were around 8 of them. my truck only chimes on door and lights
and i was wondering what all the other wires were for.
hey scoarch was up i hate that chime as well so much that i pulled the fuse which runs it and the dome light.....i had no idea where it was hid i am going to give a look behind the glove box.
thats probably what some of the wires were on the chimer.. for some reason mine works intermittent, it all started when my eclipse deck got stollen, and i put in a new HU, and wired everything up, but all my wires were on right
I thought about it a little bit and I remember now what happened, after my HU got stolen, and I replaced it I decided to put in an amp and make a nice stereo since I moved into a better part of town. I was hooking up the amp and accidently crossed my remote turn on wire with the ground and my overhead light blew and then my engine turned over, and then I figured that I blew a fuse, but idk how the engine turned over. But I replaced the fuse and then wired my remote lead to the remote lead on the stereo and everything was ok, and I had to replace the lightbulb, but now when my chime does go off, it's really quiet, and a lot of times, it dosn't even go off.
