If you don't have a bunch of friends demanding to know why you are not on ICQ it may not be worth messing with. ICQ works very good and if you want to spend a lot of time chatting with people all over the globe. It is similiar to yahoo and other programs that allow you to see if your friends are online and talk to them.
The more time I spend online, the more I turn off ICQ, yahoo, etc. It is difficult to find people that only talk to you if they have something to say besides "Whatcha doing?" duh

i have found that with ICQ i get alot of **** mail and stuff like that so i got rid of mine and only use AIM and Yahoo now havent had much problem with either of those.. just my $.02

i have the same problem with ICQ. a lot of porna nd stuff which i don't need. i have a few people i talk to on it, and i use it for this site too. just to meet the guys and gals here. id rather say use MSN messenger. it's better

yeah, id definitely go for MSN, hardly even turn my ICQ on unless im real bored.

My friend rob is a big fan of a program called trillian. It's a program that runs AOL instant messanger, MSN messanger, Yahoo and ICQ from the same program so you don't have all three little icons on the lower right of your task bar. It works well if you have multiple contacts on diffrent services. You can download it free at http://www.trillian.cc
