Any body with info to help he out please say so. also i want to know what i will need to go off roading an if i will need to get other stuff on it please write me back either on this forum or at my email dovehunter@nc.rr.com
I have a 1986 Bronco II and a lot of experience working on Ford trucks, however there are some things you will need to take into conideration. First of all, if you plan on doing a lot of off road driving, get a good job! Abuse = broken parts! Last weekend I took mine off road and blew up the transmission. Mine has the Auto O/D tranny, so you may not run into that, but expect anything and plan for whatever you can.
Bigger tires, hmmm. The Bronco II comes stock with a 205-75R/15 which to say the least, you may get high centered on a gravel road. Mine has 215-75R/15, and actually does really well. If you would like pictures of the trails I went on this weekend I'll send them to you, just email me at matthews_56(No Email Addresses In Posts!). Also remember that the bigger the tires, the harder you are going to be on the drive train. You will encounter problems like twisting the driveline, or breaking u-joints. You will also wear out clutches faster, and put a lot of strain on your engine. With the 2.8 you probably have I wouldn't go any bigger than a 30X10 mudder. You may even have enough clearance for that without the lift. A 2 inch lift is available very readibly though, just do a search online.
I guess the bottom line is to remember that it's a truck and it will break. Parts are readibly available and with the right amount of money, or the patience to wait for the right deal you could upgrade to a 302cid engine with a C-5 Auto behind it for easy uphill climbs. There are lots of us out there with the same care and we have all had similar problems. If we can't help, someone can.
