A+ Certification

Are any of you A+ Certified? I am takin a class in school, and basically find it a joke, since I know much of what they are teaching. I am thinking of just taking the A+ test now. I was just wondering if anyone else has any experiences on it, and how much it costs, how hard the questions are, etc. Thanks a ton

Go to www.braindumpcentral.com for a pretty good indication of the questions.
However it has been updated to take XP into account.

The first exam is pretty easy , the second one a bit harder.
I passed pretty easy , the exam takes about 30 mins, for each one .

Id finish the course first , you never know what you may learn, it's the little things that will trip you up.

Good luck :-)

I took it, and did not go to any classes.

Just flip through a guide that lists all the objectives, if you feel comfortable, go take the exam. I took both part one and part two on the same day, passed with flying colors.

The Comptia Certification tests are super easy.

I took it about 1.5 years ago and the second part(software) got me(had to study more on XP and NT and passed the second time). It will sometimes have the same questions asked in differant ways to throw you off. Another thing I noticed when I took andfailed it about 5 years ago is that without studying it shows what you are currently doing in your job. At the time(5 years ago) I was working primarly with printers and failed the 2nd test, i did not know enough about memory locations and addresses.

If I remember correctly the tests were like $50 or $75 each a year ago.

I say stay in the class if you will end up with your A+ at the end. I stuck out a pre-algebra class in collage and aced it, but tested out of a DOS class and lost out on the credits and my GPA, DOH!!!!

Thanks for the link, Eric. BTW... are you really an adminstrator? As in... FTE Admin, like Ken or Dennis?

I will probably stay in the class after taking the test, since we have the option of taking the test at the end of the year. I don't want to wait that long.

The A+ certification is a joke.. The instructors will flat out tell you that you will not use 2/3 of the stuff on the tests.
