Reprogram computer for larger tires?

I'm considering getting larger tires (285s) when I have to get a set, but I was wondering what's involved in reprogramming the computer for the larger tires? I assume that's a dealer only project. Any idea on the cost or amount of time involved?

Thanks,
Farmlaw

Your dealer can do it, but the best idea is to get a programmer. That way you can change it yourself, as well as add some horsepower. check motorhaven for some of the tuners available.

Dean, although I have a Superchips tuner and could reprogram my pcm, I've just lived with the inaccurate speedo. The dealer can reflash too, but they'll probably want at least one hour labor so figure anywhere between $60 and $100.

I went from a stock 30" tire to a 33" tire, hence my speedo is off by around 10%....no big deal in figuring speed.
