Question new expy owner

Hey guys I just bought the wife a 2000 expy with 46k miles on it. We have had it for 2 weeks and love it so far. I do have a coouple of questions though. First is it seems to be awful easy to bump the parking brake down just a little and turn the light on when entering and exiting the vehicle. Is there a TSB from the factory about this? Is there anyone who has an inside source that can check it for me? The other is a speaker upgrade. It has the premium sound but not the Mach sound. It has the changer in the center consol (sp). Has anyone replaced their speakers with anythong great that they have loved or would recomend? Thanks

Polk speakers will fit in the back, and infinitys up front, as the infinitys are too deep for the rear door. I do reccomend Pioneer 4 way 6x8 speakers, I really like mine. As for the parking brake, I have never had that problem.

A very common problem with the Expy's is a broken parking brake cable. The loss of tension allows the pedal to move just a bit and activate the light. Get under the vehicle and follow the cable back to the rear wheels. My bet is it's severed.

As for speakers, I installed Pioneer 3-way 5x7/6x8's in all four doors. Take a look at Crutchfields. They have listings for specific applications.

I ordered the Pioneer's that Jim refers to from Crutchfield. They fit without major hassles, particularly if you use the wiring adapters that adapt the speaker leads to the factory speaker wiring. Noticed a decent improvement in sound quality, especially after I recently installed an Alpine head unit.
