getting my feet wet here.....I have a 2004 F-150 Lariet extended cab short bed. Would like to know if someone has a suggestion on what kind of duel exhaust system they would recommend for this truck? I want somthing that rumbles but you can still hear the radio!!! I don't want to sink alot of money into to this... I have monthly payments on the truck! Is a Heartthrob exhaust system OK or is there something better for the same price? Speed and power are not a factor for me. Just sound!
For what its worth I just put on Dual Cat back Magnaflow system. It sounds really good. It has a nice rumble to it when you are in the gas but at idle you can hardly tell the difference which is nice if you have pain in the *** nieghbors. It wasn't to pricey either. Installed at my local performance exhaust shop it was $400.00.
I was hoping to get a little info on an EXHAUST too! Has anyone installed the Dynomax Catback?? I see that MotorHaven has the dual exhaust for $407. And what's my dealership going to say when I take it in for service with this installed?
Thanks,
Hardcase72

When I had mine installed I was told that as long as I stayed from the cat back it wouldn't void my warranty. I'm sure their are poeple on here that know more about it than me though.
I had a dynomax catback exhaust system installed on my truck, love it! Sounds good when you step on the gas and nice and quiet when cruising. The exhaust shop actually mocked up 6-7 mufflers on the truck and let me listen to them to help me decide. To tell you the truth, I couldn't hear much of a noticeable difference between them. One of the reasons I went with the dynomax muffler was the lifetime warranty at any dealer. 5.4 Supercab Lariat.
Williamson, what did you have to pay to have your DynoMAX installed? Did you receive your chrome tips with it or was that an EXTRA$$$. How long did you drive your truck STOCK before muffler.......improved MPG?

The dealership shouldn't say anything. Swapping out the catback will have no warranty implications, and dont let them tell you otherwise.
I had a Flowmaster series 40 installed for $350 + tax. 3 1/2" stainless steel tips out the back. Nice sound when you get on it - not really noticable at cruising speeds. I am very happy with it.
I was at first thinking about the Gibson exhaust. These other brands sound great also. How do these exhausts stack (pardon the pun) up to each other? I'm more concerned with helping out the low end torque rather than top end horsepower.

I had a muffler shop install it for $375 with 3 1/2 in stainless slant tips. It looks great. Had the system installed at approximately 500 miles. Yes the mpg did go up, but I believe the engine is still breaking in and mileage continues to improve. Hope this helps!
