Sounds like you are talking a 78 Fairmont being a tractor (it may well be). I think se_911 is referring to a 78 ford car that has a McPherson struct front suspension. To adapt this suspension will take a good deal of fabricating skills.
na just havin a bit of fun, i still reckon the I beems steer like a tractor, what i did not reasise however was he meant a US built ford and not a aussie one, we must have used the same name at the same time for two totally different vehicles.
locally the fairmont came with either 302/351 cleveland,c4/c6/fmx and either borg warner or 9" d/b rear, u can transfer the column and pedals, all running gear and even use the brakes with adaptor from those mentioned, with such a silly mistake on my behalf i shall fit a pointy hat and sit in the corner for a while

Really? In the US, a typical Fairmont (Granada) was equipped with a 2.3 Pinto engine, or you could upgrade to a straight 6. They may have been available with a 302, but most were definitely very low end cars. They were factory designed to be a piece of crap in 80,000 miles, if you took good care of them. One of Ford's better attempts at turning the public into Honda and Toyota fans.
in Aus the fairmont name was used from 67 on, it is mid range with falcon being entry level and fairlane the top models, all rear wheel drive.
