Hi, Am trying to locate the EEC modual and the PCM my chilton book directs me to different places but cant seem to find em the only unit that they were right about was the inertia switch I found the fuel relay and I believe the eec relay next to the eec test box on passenger side fender well in engine compartment.
Im having many problems trying to trace down why I have no juice to the inertia switch and to pumps. Been at this thing for a week now and not getting anywhere change some parts like fuel relay eec relay and external pump I think Ive created some problems also. Any Ideas would be appreciated thanks in advance
Hawk try the kick panel on he drivers side of the truck ya gotta take it off and look sorta up inside. Thats where mine is anyway. I personally think anyone owning a ford with the fuel relays and inerita switch have had power problems I did find on mine that the relay didnt get juice nor did the inertia untill i traced the inline fuse between the yellow wire on the relay and the inertia switch now i dont know if anyone had added it in but ford said it was there i just had to find it.
Another thing Hawk is the chilton manuel i have one for my truck. Haynes outdoes it 10 to 1 for wiring diagrams and info it cost 15 bucks at any advance auto parts or autozone.
Thanks Renagade I will take a better look at the kick panel Ive never had this kind of problem you think ford over done all this stuff
Will ck out that inline fuse before the inertia switch I did buy the haynes manual and you are right about the wiring diagrams some of the other stuff is good if you have a older van The haynes I bought had a big spread of years Thanks again and I will let you know what I find if I dont torch it and walk away
If the pump(s) prime, but won't continue running, there may be a problem with the ignition module on the distributor.
They have a circuit to prime the pumps when you first turn the key, but afterward, the computer sends a negative signal to the fuel pump relay to make it energize. The computer will continue to send a signal to the fuel pump relay, as long as it recieves a pulse from the dist module. If it loses the dist signal, it thinks the engine is not running and shuts down the fuel pump relay.
Also check the fuel pump breaker. I have seen these things act wierd for some reason. I would have to reset mine when I hit a bumb in a turn. Replaced it and never did it again.
