My son has a 1988, with the 2.9 liter V6 ( I believe it is ) and we broke down the other night after all the ATF blew out, I am not sure where it blew out from, 3 months ago we changed the filter and gasket, Is there a vent tube on this model ? And where might I find it? And my other question, is there a better trans for this then the stock stick shift automatic ? What may it be ? and is it a drop in ?
Next,, how hard is it to drop a 5.0 HO into one of these little Bronco's ?? is it worth the work..
I look forward to hearing your opinions,,, I have read the post on Trans problems, but would like to know where that vent it,, and where does it go..
Hey man sounds like you have the a4ld transmission headache. Yea its possible to put a 5.0 in a bronco II but it is a good amount of work new motor mounts, trans, rearend and so on just can't bolt a 5.0 its also a very tight space. Try duffy enterprise's they have some kits that make modification easier and can answer all your questions. Keep in mind when changing motor you will need at least a motor, wire harness, computer, transmission, probably have to beef up rearend not sure weather the 4 wheel drive will handle it either. so your looking at more cash than the truck is worth but heh if ya gots it spend it right the 4.0 explorer motors are almost a cinch to put in.
