I have a 85 F250 that has a serious water leak around the top of the windshield.
It rains more in the truck than outside. I need to remove the trim to see If I can locate the leak. I have tried and tried to pop the trim off and I am afraid I am going to tear the trim up. Can someone tell me how to get the trim off. I must be making this project harder than what it is.
Thanks,
Rodney
There are metal rivots in the cab frame, and ther is a metal clip that latches onto the rivot and the trim. They make a tool to pop it off. I bought one at harbor freight, but it wasn't the right one I don't think. You can pop it loose with a screw driver, but be careful not to break the glass.
It is hard to explain how to get it off, but if you play with it, you can figure it out.
There are 4 of those metal clips on that upper trim piece. 2 on the outter ends about 3 inches in, and 2 more towards the center. I've had luck with 2 of them just using a screw driver, wedging them out from the roof side (not the windshield side), but there is a risk of damaging those clips by not using the proper tool. Was not too difficult, and took about minute or 2....
