Hello;I am looking at a 1970 model pickup with a vin number of F10YNH10990,
could you tell me from the vin number what size engine it has?I think it is a 390 with a 2brl.carb.It has a working 8 track tape player.Wonder if EBAY has any 8 track tapes? That is my next stop. Thanks for your help.
Jack
You can find 8-track tapes at thrift stores, St. Vincent de Paul, Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc. Unfortunately, most of them have deteriorated foam pads that hold the tape against the player heads. If you have the patience to fool around taking the tape cartridges apart, you might be able to replace the old pad with a new foam, maybe from weatherstripping. Will require some ingenuity. The 'restoration' might last only long enough to play the tape a few times. Maybe you could dub the music off onto cassettes if it's 'must have' stuff.

The "Y" shows 360 in my book. Unfortunately, the only way to tell the difference in the engines is to measure the stroke. It may not even be the original engine since it's almost 35 years old. Either way, they both are pretty good motors, but they like their gas. Good luck with it (and the 8-track). You might be able to donate the 8-track to a museum for a tax write-off.
