My new entertainment system

Well, it didn't take me long to break my "I'm leaving it stock" promise. Have a look in my gallery by clicking the link, or find it under my avitar. As you will see, all I need to do is to figure out what to do with the cigarette lighter hole.

Thanks. The screen in a Myron & Davis 7in. screen (very nice quality and great side viewing). The DVD player is actually a bulky Pyle/Phillips unit that has a built-in TV tuner as well, but like I mentioned, I removed the processing boards from the case and mounted them in the dash, behind the screen. I'll try to take some pictures of the electronics in the dash later. I have the TV antenna running along the top of the windshield, out of view. The DVD remote control sensor is in the small pocket next to the airbag switch. The screen automatically turns of wen the truck turns on. All the other audio equipment (subs, amp, etc) from my Ranger will soon be in the F-150 as soon as i design a new sub box (the one from my Ranger was made specifically for my Ranger and won't fit...sucks because I spent so m uch time on those other boxes...) I'll keep you posted.

Where did you pick up the raw monitors and how much were they? I've been looking for some of those, I've had something like yours in mind plus going to mount one in each headrest, and maybe even a fourth in the panel above the glove compartment. Anyway, I havent been able to find the raw monitors so I would really appreciate it if you could let me know where to look.

Thanks!

Well, I got the screen from a dealer-friend of mine, but try Myronanddavis.com to see the actual makers, and maybe you can find a dealer from there. Mind you, the screen came in a casing, which I carefully removed; it didn't come raw. It wasn't all too bad to take the guts out of the shell, but it voids the warrenty immediately. E-bay also has a few raw screens, but make SURE it is an Active Matrix/TFT screen. Cheaper ones are not TFT and are noticably less clear, and low quality. Far less pixles. Again, most will be in a shell, so just be carefull when removing everything. I'll go take some pictures of the internals in a few minutes and will post them in my gallery, so check in a few minutes.

Thanks for the updated pics, that helped alot to understand what you had done...that's a lot of modification to the electronics, props to your talent! What all did you have to do to get the CD player to fit into the cup holder area? Was there any cutting or were you able to make a bracket to mount it? Thanks for the insight so far!

Actually, the cup holder assembly all snaps together/apart (after you unscrew it from the truck that is. And, the CD player fits almost perfectly in the main cupholder bracket piece (after anything/everything that can come off of it is taken off) Heck, there are even two holes in the plastic that ine-up with the screw holes in th CD player. It's almost as though it was made to fit it! The ONLY cutting I have done to any Ford part is where the DVD tray opens through the dash, where the little cigarett panel is (behind it actually)...but nothing visable, that's the best part. And, it can all be put back to stock if need-be! Thanks for the comments.

Thanks. Actually, I can't drive with it on. It is too distracting, so I only use it on my lunch breaks, which is nice to get away and still watch a movie or TV or something. Heck, I even go up to the mountains just to sit in the quiet, smell the fresh air and watch a movie!

That's cool. I thought it would be distracting too. I saw a lady driving with eye makeup in one hand and a bowl of cereal in the other...why not watch some soaps too
