I have a seventy nine bronco with a 351 modified and a c6 transmission that is shot. I would like to install a stand alone e40d transmission. Does anyone out there know if the transmission bellhousing will bolt up to the 351m, if the transfer case will bolt up, if the gear shifter will bolt up, and also about any problems i might have with speedometer hookup? Any help would be great, Please give any advice you can give all help would be appreciated.
I'd assume he's talking about using a Baumman controller or such...
As for other options, there is no non electronic automatic(or any other for that matter) with overdrive in the BBF bolt pattern.

SO are you saying that the e40d will not bolt up to the 351m?
thanks for all of your help

It will bolt up, but you will need electronics to run it. The bellhousing for 460 is the same as 351M the trans-case mounts are supposed to be compatible. If I were you, I would call advance adaptors tech line. For the cost of a long distance call, they can probably even give you sources for the parts and prices. As for the speedo, that comes out of the t-case, so there shouldn't be any problems there.
You could always try an auxillary overdrive. It would be about the same price, but give you gear splitting options plus overdrive without having to go to the hassle of a full on swap. Besides, the E40D isn't known for being as tough or reliable as the C-6.
To use the E4OD, you will have to go to a later transfercase also, a NP203 or 205 will bolt on, but, there isn't very much room for a front driveshaft. The later 'cases have the front output offset further to the drivers side.
