I traded off my old F150, "Billy Mac", yesterday. It was a pretty tough thing to do, as he has served me faithfully and well since I got him. For those of you who don't know, Billy Mac was my 1985 F150 4x4 that I bought to use as a farm truck and gradually ended up using as my daily driver. But, with gas prices rising and Billy Mac needing some major repairs in the somewhat near future, I decided the time was right to find another vehicle to take over as my daily driver, and to begin using my 1991 F250 4x4 on the farm more.
What I found was a 1988 F150 4x2, 300 inline six, 5 speed trans. The odometer shows 63,000 original miles. A used-car dealer in a nearby town brought it to his lot Wednesday night. I saw it Thursday morning on my way home from the warehouse, drove it, and decided Friday morning to buy it.
I know there'll be times I miss old Billy, but it was time. I'll keep ya posted if I ever decide what to name this one.
It's sad to say goodbye to a faithful old friend. I'm sure your new faithful friend will give you as good of service and memories as "Billy" did. Good luck with your new truck!
