I'm thinking about getting a camper or trailer for my family and me next year (Lord willing and the creek doesn't rise).
Given that it's a light duty truck, are there pickup in-bed campers available? They seem to be gaining in popularity again.
If I were to go the trailer route, how much trailer could I pull? Would a pop-up variety be better for the truck? Or could it handle the larger styles (not the largest of course).
I'm learning so much from this forum. Thanks so much.
I have seen pop-up truck slide in campers but, given the 4.2 and light duty package I would go with a good Fleetwood (coleman) pop-up or a Jayco pop-up. This would be a good combination for you. I have a 04 Heritage and I plan on towing a large 2500 pound pop-up in the future. It tows my 2000 pound boat no problem. If you have the five speed I think you are pretty tight on the poundage you can tow but, a 4.2 with an auto an 3.55 gears can tow like 5500-6000 pound depengin on the cab config.
