Has anyone retrofitted a third brake light to an Aerostar? I have a '92 without one, and would like to put one on mine. I tow a pop-up trailer and I think it'd be good to have a visible light on the tow vehicle as well as the trailer's lights.
I'm thinking of looking at getting a late model Astro Van's light from the junkyard , as they have flat roofs like ours, and weren't designed initially with the brake light in mind (as were ours).
Has anyone added one to the outside of the Aero? My rear window is tinted so mounting one inside isn't really an option for me. As for getting one from a newer Aero, I'd have to relocate the windshield washer nozzle, which doesn't sound like fun.
Then buy a light and cut it in. The Trunk lid is fiberglass and you can not get at that area at the top without cutting the inside as well. If you get one from a Yard take some paper to trace the opening for a templet.
The wire's have to be run from one of the lights in the rear with a coat hanger.
They also sell cheap stick,em lights you could put anywhere ya like all ya need is a small hole to run to your brake lights... I would use a dab of epoxy instaed of the tape like glue they come with ...Hope this helps. <BOB>
