Has anyone ever painted their interior plastic and actually have it look good? I've seen alot of crappy spray bombed interior pieces in my time and thinking about doing something with the blue interior in my '86 Bronco. Anyone use that new Fusion spray paint yet for plastic?
I don't know about the fusion but I used SEM auto interior die. It sprays on like paint but it won't skratch like paint. It bonds to the plastic really good. I wouldn't use anything else. You can get it at most upholstery suppliers or online at eastwood.com Im sure other places would sell it.
I have just recently painted my door pannels on my 1980 F350. I used Krylon Interior/Exterior gloss black paint. It sprayed on nice and gave it a good shiny coat. I haven't had them in there for too long so I can't really tell you any long term results. I would spray paint everything on your dash except the top of the dash which is probably better off being covered with some fabric or find a new one because the direct sun heat will kill your paint.

Your truck should have the same door panels as my '86 Bronco. Was your door panels really deteriorated at the top? Mine are like most i've seen, the plastic fades and becomes gritty and wears away.
If anyone could post some pics that would be a great help.
The door pannels would be the same since 80-86 were the same styling. The ones out of my 1980 F350 weren't cracked at all on the tops but on my 1980 F150 the door pannels on that are cracked and deteriorated like you mentioned. I don't have any interior pictures yet but I should in a week or two. I guess if i were going to paint ones that were cracked and deteriorated I'd try to sand off the rough places and go from there. Painting them is the cost of a can of spraypaint but buying a brand new pair would set you back at least $150.
I must have got some crapy paint, i painted the body on one of my four wheelers with that KRYLON fusion, and i preped and cleaned the body with alchol like it said, that paint went on great and looked good but i can scrape it off with my finger nail, the slightest little thing scratches it, if the paint sees something coming towards it, it will just about jump off! , ! DW
I used the same interior dye as mentioned above. I did all of my interior parts with it. It looks stock. Just clean it real well with paint thinner or something like that and paint it on. Its been painted for several years now and only has a few scratches but those are in high traffic areas.
If you want a more glossy finish use some kind of automotive spray paint but prep it with bully dog adhesion promotor. About four thin coats of that and then four thin coats of color. It says on very well and looks great. I did my engine compartment parts with it the first time and it came out great.
