Here I am, 1:30am trying to focus on some Calc. homework that I have no interest in doing. I decide it's time to check the forums for a break, and what do I see? None other than Mr. T himself, telling me I need to post more often. If I don't? Pain.
Sweet.
Anyway, I finally got a chance to look at my truck on Wednesday, and I camme to find my whole rocker assembly had loosened up on me. Strange.
Tightened that that down * to torque specs, again* and readjusted the valves. She is running purdy again. Certainly not the fastest thing in the world, but it beats the Toyota Camry.
...And it sounds wicked.
If you have the rocker shaft completely off, first rotate the engine to TDC on #1 and then turn the crank an etra 45 degrees. Then you can start each bolt finger tight. Next you want to go either #4 or #5, depending on which side you are working on, and tighten each bolt 2 turns in sequence untill the bottom of the supports come down on the heads. Then you can torque each one in the same order
I was eating my lunch and dude walked by and gave me a hot pepper. Understatement. Anyway, I've always just tightened my rocker arms systematically but never any set sequence. No problems so far (knock on wood)
