I'm new and getting my feet wet. I have a F350 Year is 2000. I have an issue with door locks. I've done a search and found information on problems with door actuators. However my problem is random sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes all four doors won't work other times just some of them work. They do appear not to have the power needed to activate the locks at times other times they work fine. In addition to the locks the door ajar ldot light comes on and won't go off. When this happens the dome light comes on and will stay on until I reach a speed of 15MPH and them it will shut off every time? This will go on for a day or so an d then everything goes back to normal. Do I have relays hanging? Maybe a bad ground or is all this related to the malfunctioning door actuators?
V10man: Thanks for the imput. It makes sense. From what I've read the actuators are weak and if there is no lubrication I can see how they wouldn't work. I'll give it a try.
Ron ,if you didn't know this or gathered it from your searchs here on your problem .The switch that activates the door ajar light and dome light is integrated into the latch mechanism ,thats why we suggest the wd -40 trick first before taking the door panel off.
As for the actuators ,over time they see alot of debris and water inside the door they do wear out or bind.
alot of guys end up replacing them .
oh and welcome to FTE!

My problem is consistently with the passenger side door..it never will completely open with the remote or the inside switch,, it actuates the lock but does not fully move up the puller and unlock .. the driver side usually works with the remote.. but randomly it doesn't.. Have done the wd 40 till it floats.. appreciate your help
I am glad that I came across this thread. I have started to get the problem with the door ajar light staying on and my in-laws 2001 excursion, and the two 2000 SD's that I drove at work also had the same issues. I will try the wd-40.
the wd-40 definately works for the door ajar light. I've had to do it with every truck I've owned so far after about a year. It may take a bit of spraying and working the latches, but it will solve 99% of the problem. I just ordered the new lock solenoids from fordpartsonline .com cheapest I've heard of and found for factory upgrade replacements ($38 each).
