I really like the American Eagle 178 wheels (like Blkbuty). I am being told by a salesman that the wheels won't stick out past the fender. This seems contrary to what I am reading on here. The wheel offset is +2 mm and I know that the factory wheels are +44 mm. I have to admit that I am ignorant to wheel measurments. I guess the point is I really like the look of those wheels but I don't want them took stick past the wheels well a lot. I have the XLT. Thanks in advance.
If that is the case then you should be all set, cause the backspacing on the 178 series is 5". I am lookin into those rims also, but am just thinking about putting some 285 BFG's on the stock 18's, or see if BFG comes out with a nice 33x12.5-18 instead of 11.5
Wheels for our trucks are similar to front wheel drive type wheels. Our hub and disc brakes stick way out so the stock wheels are very high off-set +44. The stock wheels almost stick out past the front fenders on the XLT. I bought 20"x8.5" with +40 off-set and they stick out about 1/2" past the fender in front. It seems like there is more new styles of wheels available all the time. Also, Ford truck wheels are hub centric and not lug centric and sensitive to out of balance conditions.
What I am hearing about lifts you have to go with 5 inch or less backspacing on a 8inch wide wheel for the new F150's. I purchased the CST 8inch lift the other day, now I am in search for rims and tires. Any suggestions. I am wondering if they make a 20 x 8 with 5 inch backspace rim. Also a 37 x 12.5 tire to fit...
