Hey guys,
I was wondering about the Davis unified ignition setup, whether anyone has any experience with them or feedback about them. Whether there worth it over stock setup or whatever.
i was thinking about it, id like some advice before i go through with it and spend the money on that rather than new cap/rotor etc.
thanks
I don't have one, but several guys on here have them and they seem to like them quite a bit. Installation is easy (one wire hook up) and apparrently DUI will customize the advance curve for your setup. If the rest of my engine were already rebuilt and running well and I had an extra $375 laying around, I would do it.
The DUI setup is pretty nice. I bought one and am very happy with it. The only problem I had was the cap and rotor that came with it corroded to heck in under 5K miles. Might have been something I did? Don't know. Replaced with el cheapo napa cap and rotor and it's been working great for the last 20K or so miles. The difference with the DUI was huge. I never tried recurving my stock dizzy, but it was in perfect shape with a pertronix ignitor and aftermarket coil. I ordered the DUI a week before my new 390 was due to be finished at the machine shop. It was holiday season and the DUI didn't show up in time so I broke the new engine in and drove around for a day with the old dizzy. When I swapped them out it was a night and day difference the off idle torque picked way up and idle was much smoother. I would recomend it.
Cool, thanks for the feedback guys.
Thats 375 american too eh? Whew thats a few bucks,
maybe I should wait til I get back to work, then ill invest in it.
