I am planning a swap from an explorer to my 85 BII auto 4x4. Which explorer is the best donor. I would like to use the transmission from the xplorer but I dont know if it bolts to my transfer case or I need to replace it also. Will a 2wd xplorer be a possible donor?
I'm new to this forum. I just got a 2wd 90' Bronco 2 with a 2.9, 5 spd w/ 72,000 on it. The motor ticks very bad. There are possible problems it could be. 1 oil pump, 2 lifters, 3 rockers. Either way the motor is gone, I can get a 2.9 for 800 which sounds about right. I was looking a some different options, and the 4.0 sounds like a good one. My question is this option a feasible one. I know I have to get the ecu, wiring harness etc. Is it difficult to do, and what is the going price for a 4.0? Also is the 4.0 a reliable engine? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Why not go with a 5.0L V8? They're pretty reliable and have plenty of aftermarket stuff, that is pretty easy to swap in.
I have a 90 4WD B2 and it ticks to, I'm thinking it's a bent pushrod, I don't have enough time to get under there and find out. Mine started about 5 months after I got it in Jan of 2004, we're about to have our 2 year anniversary . But I'm going to go with the 5.0 swap, just need the $$$ first lol.
