Need help quick. How do I get the dust cap off??

I know it sounds stupid and I feel really stupid but I can't get the dust caps off of the front hubs. Need to take the rotors off to get turned. Haynes book says pry them off with a screwdriver. I don't see how. I have tried yanking them off with channel locks and big pliers also. Any ideas/help would be great. I need to get this done and back together.

i always use a thin blade screw driver and hammer around the outside lip, they have always come right off for me

me too, but to be specific you need to put the edge of the screwdriver on the inside of the lip and tap out (toward yourself).

You can also try a chisel or pick. Just be careful not to beat them to death! A few persuasive taps around the cap should do it.

of course if you do beat them to death, they are very cheap to replace. I had a '96 2wd F-150 that I changed the rotors on... I completely ruined the dust caps but I got new ones at OReilly very cheap.

Got them off with a small chisel. No problems after that.
