Scary!

Decided to attack the engine yesterday to change the valve cover gaskets from the crappy stock cork ones to rubber. Noticed a leak. Anyways, I pull off the drivers side cover and everything looks fine, clean as a whistle. Pulled off the passenger side cover, and nearly took a stroke by the sight of it. It was chalk full of greasy crap covering everything. It took 4 hours to clean it completely out with a little brush, paper towl and a shop vac, and flushing it out with oil, and doing an oil change. What a scary sight. Has anybody else ever experienced this? Truck seems to be running fine.

PCV is on the passenger side and can contribute to additional deposits.

Sounds like you just happened to find that someone did what you did to the passenger side at some other time prior on the driver's side. I know of no other conditions that would cause just the right side head to gum up.

People have said that Fords tend to gum up more than others. Whether there is any truth to this is of no matter. I am thinking that the previous owner was not timely with his oil changes. That would be my idea. Btw, the PCV valve runs from the drivers side cover towards the front of the engine to the air cleaner although the passenger side cover has a tube coming out of it near the firewall side. Anyway, I was looking today for that Seafoam stuff hoping that I could use that to clean out anything that I may have missed, but I dont think that there is any in Canada.

What year is your Bronco....I wasn't aware that the PCV valve location changed.
