Hello all; I need to know the location of the map sensor on a 1990 ranger 4.0 auto. I have looked and traced vac lines but I cant seem to find it. I just aquired this truck, it did not run when I got it. I have replaced the fuel pump, plugs and wires. The truck runs now but not great yet. It has poor low speed accel and chugs black smoke when missing. Any help is appreciated. THx..
If your truck has an MAF sensor, and I'm pretty sure it does, then then there is no MAP sensor. However, it may or may not (I'm not sure) have a BARO sensor, in which case you would probably find it up on the firewall somewhere. There won't be any vacuum line going to a BARO sensor.
Thanks for the quick info.. That makes sense that it does not have a map sensor, because I have looked everywhere for that thing. I did find the baro sensor, looks very similiar to a map sensor. I will clean the maf and see what happens. Rockledge - I actually used your plug wire diagram since the one in the chiltons manual that I have is incorrect. Thanks , I'll post results.
