Stereo does not turn on when temperature is cold outside.
I first had the factory deck in my 2000 V10 and when it was cold outside, the stereo would not turn on. Then probably about 10 minutes of driving, it would turn on. I replaced the factory deck with an aftermarket, and the problem is still happening. Has anyone heard of this before? Is there a problem with wires or fuses that would cause this?
i have a 92 explorer and i have the same problem with the cd player starting, when its cold it takes a while of driving for it to start up and sometimes when its hot enough outside it starts first time....its not the battery either because i just got a new battery
Just the CD player part? Radio should work, I think what happens is the laser lens fogs over inside the player. I'm not 100% sure, but I heard about a friend of mine having this problem.
no, its the whole radio and everything...i just installed a new deck which was a pain in the @$$ with my stock jbl soundsystem that doesnt use the regular 92 ford wiring harness...but i got it done and has fixed the problem for now
What wiring harness are you talking about? The one that converts the factory plugs to the aftermarket deck? I did replce that harness and that still didnt seem to help. And yes, it is my entire dekc, not just the cd player.
the wiring harness for the power and battery etc. worked fine but the speaker plug was totally wrong so i had to chop all the wires and reconnect them...does ur deck work more often and faster in hot weather? and then if its really cold it takes like half an hour or so?
I've never had any problems with it in the warmer weather. It's always when its cold. It usually takes 15-20 minutes for it to finally turn on. Maybe I need to get a temperature reading on the cold days it doesnt work and see if there is any pattern to this.
with me it used to work always then only when it was really cold it didnt work, then when it was fairly cold ...and it got worse and worse and now sometimes in the summer u even need to wait 10 minutes...until the new deck which is working out really good...good luck though man...im pretty sure its something with the stock deck and then maybe u just installed the new deck wrong or something
